Stardew Valley Gift Finder

Stardew Valley gift finder for 1.6: look up any villager's loved, liked and hated gifts, see who loves an item, and check every birthday.

This Stardew Valley gift finder shows what every villager loves, likes, dislikes and hates. Search a villager to see their gift list and birthday, or search an item to see who loves it. It covers all 34 villagers you can befriend, more than 460 items and the universal gifts, for version 1.6.

How to use the gift finder

  • Search a villager. Type a name such as Abigail or pick one from the grid. You get their birthday, their personal loved, liked, neutral, disliked and hated gifts, and a table of universal gifts with any exceptions.
  • Search an item. Type an item such as Diamond or Pink Cake. The finder lists who loves, likes, dislikes and hates it, and how many villagers are neutral.
  • Check birthdays. Open the Birthdays tab and enter today's in-game date to see the next four birthdays. All 34 birthdays are listed by season below that.

Press Enter in the search box to open the first match. Every name and item in the results can be clicked, so you can jump from a villager to an item and back.

How gift tastes are worked out

Each villager has a personal list, and the game also has universal lists that apply to everyone. The finder resolves every villager and item in the same order the game does:

  1. An item named on the villager's own list wins.
  2. Next come items named on the universal lists. This is why Stardrop Tea and the other universal loves are loved by almost everyone.
  3. Then category rules on the villager's list, such as Abigail disliking most vegetables.
  4. Then universal category rules, such as most cooked dishes being liked.
  5. Anything left is neutral.

That is why Haley hates a Prismatic Shard even though it is a universal love: it is named on her own hate list. Penny is the same with the Rabbit's Foot.

The gift lists were compiled from two open data sets, stardew-valley-data and stardew.app, and checked against community gift guides written for 1.6. All of them agree on every villager's birthday and loved gifts. A handful of rare items whose reaction depends on hidden price rules, such as Qi Fruit, are left out.

Friendship points

Reaction Normal day Birthday
Love +80 +640
Like +45 +360
Neutral +20 +160
Dislike −20 −160
Hate −40 −320

A heart is 250 points. You can give each villager two gifts a week, plus one on their birthday, and birthday gifts count eight times. Stardrop Tea is worth +250 points.

Tips for gifting

  • Cheap loved gifts: Leek for George, Daffodil for Sandy, Coconut for Haley and Linus, Cactus Fruit for Linus, Pam and Sam, and Pumpkin for Abigail, Krobus and Willy.
  • Diamonds are loved by eight villagers and liked by 25 more, which makes them one of the safest valuable gifts.
  • Daffodils are free in spring and liked by 14 villagers, a good gift in your first weeks.
  • Artisan goods and cooked dishes are universal likes, so a spare Cheese or Wine is a safe gift for most people. Check the item first: Jas, Sebastian and Vincent hate most artisan goods.
  • Be careful with Quartz. Thirteen villagers like it, but seven hate it, including Alex, Gus and Shane.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best gift for everyone in Stardew Valley?

The universal loves are Stardrop Tea, Golden Pumpkin, Magic Rock Candy, Pearl, Prismatic Shard and Rabbit's Foot. Haley hates the Prismatic Shard and Penny hates the Rabbit's Foot, so avoid those two for them. For everyday gifts, most cooked dishes and artisan goods are liked by most villagers.

How many gifts can you give a villager per week?

You can give each villager two gifts a week, plus one on their birthday. A gift on their birthday is worth eight times the usual friendship points.

Who loves Diamonds in Stardew Valley?

Evelyn, Gus, Jodi, Krobus, Marnie, Maru, Penny and Willy love Diamonds. Almost everyone else likes them, because gems are a universal like.

When are the villager birthdays in Stardew Valley?

Each villager has one birthday a year. The Birthdays tab lists all 34 by season, from Kent on Spring 4 to Clint on Winter 26, and shows which ones come next after any date.

Is a neutral gift worth giving?

Yes. A neutral gift still adds 20 friendship points, or 160 on a birthday. Loved gifts are worth four times as much, so save neutral gifts for when you have nothing better.

Does the gift finder include the 1.6 update?

Yes. The data covers version 1.6, including Stardrop Tea, books and trinkets, and the gift tastes that update changed.
